This year, Jalisco will invite their youngest citizens to participate in the decisions of how we address climate change and take care of the environment and people from its effects, together.

¿How are we doing it?

Through the first Climate Assembly with Children and Adolescents, a small and representative group of children and adolescents of the Metropolitan Area of Guadalajara, selected by democratic lottery will gather to learn, deliberate and develop proposals for the authorities on how to strengthen the capacities of our communities to build resilience and take care of people and nature from climate change, from their visions. Also, children from all the state of Jalisco have been invited to share how effects of climate change look in their communities and share their ideas on how to address them through the initiative Climate Reporters.

But, ¿What is a Climate Assembly?

A Climate Assembly gathers a small group of ordinary people (between 40 and 100 people) randomly selected to participate in the development of proposals to mitigate climate change and adapt to their effects. During the assembly, the participants are part of 4-5 sessions and go through the following stages:

¿Which are the stages of the Climate Assembly?

1.NNAs de Jalisco son reporteros climáticos

A través de una herramienta digital, dónde compartirán los efectos del cambio climático en sus comunidades e ideas de cómo podemos cuidar al medio ambiente y a las personas.

2. Se convocan y seleccionan los participantes

Las NNAs son invitados a registrar su interés para ser parte de la Asamblea y se seleccionará por lotería un grupo representativo de entre 35 y 45 participantes.

3. Se tienen sesiones de la Asamblea

Las y los participantes seleccionados se reúnen durante 4 sesiones dónde aprenderán de expertos, dialogarán y deliberarán y desarrollarán propuestas de cómo enfrentar el cambio climático para presentarlas a las autoridades.

4. Las autoridades dan respuesta

Las autoridades revisan las propuestas y dan respuesta sobre cuáles se implementarán y cuáles se ajustarán.
